Getting Started on Otheryia
Follow this guide to go from zero to catching your first Pokémon in under 15 minutes. No prior Cobblemon experience required.

Buy Minecraft Java Edition
Otheryia runs on Minecraft Java Edition. If you don't already have it, purchase it from minecraft.net. Make sure you're running the Java Edition — the server does not support Bedrock Edition.
Minecraft Java Edition is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Install the Cobblemon Modpack
The easiest way to get started is to install the official Otheryia modpack — it comes pre-configured with Cobblemon and all required mods. You can find it on Modrinth or CurseForge. Alternatively, you can install Cobblemon directly from the official Cobblemon website.
The Otheryia modpack is the recommended way to play — everything is set up for you automatically.

Launch Minecraft with Cobblemon
Open your launcher, select the Cobblemon or Otheryia modpack profile, and launch the game. Wait for it to fully load — the first launch may take a minute or two as it loads all the Pokémon assets.

Connect to play.otheryia.com
From the Minecraft main menu, click Multiplayer → Add Server. Enter "Otheryia" as the server name and "play.otheryia.com" as the server address. Click Done, then double-click the server to connect.
The server IP is play.otheryia.com — no port number needed.

Choose Your Starter Pokémon
When you first join, press M to open the starter selection screen. Take your time — this is your first partner and will shape your early game experience. All starters are viable, so pick the one you love most.
Press M at any time during the starter selection to open the menu. You can always catch more Pokémon later, but your starter will be with you from the very beginning!
